  • Morro Bay Power Plant owned by Dynegy, California. The current plant was built in the 1950s, and Dynegy wishes to modernize it with a new combined cycle plant. The Environmental Protection Agency has recently granted Dynegy an air permit for the modernization project. The company will be replacing four existing fossil fuel fired electric utility steam generators with two combined cycle natural gas fired turbine generators. The three existing 450 foot exhaust stacks will be replaced with two 145 foot stacks  (wiki 2009)

Flowers of the Yucca genus -- which includes the Joshua Tree (Yucca brevifolia) -- depend on the small, white Pronuba Moth for pollination. This moth, in addition to gathering pollen, actually deposits her eggs in the ovary of the yucca flowers. The Pronuba larvae feed on the developing fruit, but leave some seeds to mature (DesertUSA).
