  • Mojave Yucca (Yucca schidigera) in Joshua Tree National Park, California. Flowers of the Yucca genus -- which includes the Joshua Tree (Yucca brevifolia) -- depend on the small, white Pronuba Moth for pollination. This moth, in addition to gathering pollen, actually deposits her eggs in the ovary of the yucca flowers. The Pronuba larvae feed on the developing fruit, but leave some seeds to mature (DesertUSA).

  • Soil Centipede, Pebble Beach CA. All centipedes are predaceous on other small creatures in the soil. They have large jaws (for their size) for grasping and injecting poison into their victims. They may eat very small black cutworms and newly hatched white grubs, but most likely they feed on springtails and other micro-invertebrates in the soil. Centipedes are recognized by having only one pair of legs per body segment; millipedes have two pairs of legs per segment and lack the large jaws

  • Caterpillars are the larval form of a member of the order Lepidoptera (the insect order comprising butterflies and moths). Caterpillars are voracious feeders and many of them are considered pests in agriculture. Many moth species are better known in their caterpillar stages because of the damage they cause to fruits and other agricultural produce. Most caterpillars have tubular, segmented bodies. Caterpillars have good vision. Many caterpillars are cryptically coloured and resemble the plants on which they feed and may even have parts that mimic plant parts such as thorns. Their size varies from as little as 1 mm to about 3 inches. (wikipedia_caterpillars)
